Generations of Philanthropy
The Cohen Family has been an integral part of the Vancouver community since the early 1900’s. Samuel Cohen helped newcomers in Canada by providing jobs and helping to settle them into new lives in Canada. This family legacy of philanthropic support has been passed down to Jaqui, in her Face the World Foundation, and to her daughter Kasondra, in Face of Today.
Kasondra’s late father Hershel left a namesake foundation that continues to support the administration and work of Face of Today as one of their many grantee organizations globally.
Resources for Youth
Face of Today Foundation was created in 2009 with the vision for all youth and their support systems feel empowered through access to resources and education. Face of Today’s mission is to invest in strategic partnerships with aligned organizations, co-creating and delivering youth-centred programs that foster resilience, personal development and a mindset of giving back. In 2019, Face of Today’s resource centre, the Cohen Centre of Social Enterprise, was opened in Gastown, to provide partner programming in arts, fitness and wellness to vulnerable youth. This allowed a space for FOT to welcome community partners into the space, 6 nights a week to offer programming in a safe environment.
Being in Gastown has allowed Face of Today a wonderful place to call home. Since we opened in 2019, the world has undergone enormous changes, as have we. Face of Today is extremely excited to have build a community of partners, scholars and families that we are proud to support, and it is at this time we feel it is right to move our home closer to theirs. A new building has been acquired that will allow Face of Today to run and operate in the community in which we serve. While there is a long road ahead until we move, we cannot wait to provide you more details in the coming months. We thank you to everyone in the community of Gastown who supported us this year, and look forward to the year ahead!
